Spanish smallsat launcher in development PLD Space has closed a $28 million oversubscribed Series B funding round, the company announced at the end of 2021. Arcano Partners, Aciturri, and the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) led the round. With this, PLD Space has raised more than $50 million.

PLD Space, based in Elche, Spain, is developing the MIURA 1 suborbital rocket and the MIURA 5 orbital rocket. PLD Space plans for the launch of MIURA 1 at the end of 2022 from Huelva, and is currently preparing for full stage hot testing of the rocket.

“With this level of follow-on, PLD Space financial viability is guaranteed to undertake their next milestones such as the first commercial launch of MIURA 5, the internalization of a good part of the rocket production processes and, of course, the demonstration flights of MIURA 1,” commented Raúl Verdú, COO and co-founder.
